Here at Thermal we take our programming seriously, we aim to give our members amazing results and we want to know exactly what you want out of this program. If you’ve never spent time on our website, now would be a great time to stop by and read our Programming Methodology Page. I have yet to find another gym out there with a more in depth description covering why we do what we do.
That being said, the end of the Open is a great time to refocus and dial back into regular training. No matter what comes out of this survey, a few things will NOT change. First we’re still always going to be doing CrossFit, that is; constantly varied functional fitness performed at high intensity. We do training cycles so that we can have a focus within that context and so can see progress. The easiest way I can explain this is with the snatch. Most would agree that the snatch is the most difficult movement to master in the gym. Programming a snatch every 3 weeks gives you very little chance of ever getting good enough to perform it at “intensity”. Through proper programming and repeated exposure you can get good at it, even if you’re not a dedicated weight-lifter.
Second, we’ll still train everything! If we’re focusing on squatting, that doesn’t mean we’re not going to run and do pull-ups too.
