Congrats to Our Member of the Month – Jesse Last

Jesse’s journey to Crossfit Thermal is pretty unique…He was raised in Hawaii until the age of seven, when his parents separated. He then moved back east to Delaware with his mom and ultimately spent the school years on the east coast in various states and his summers in Hawaii with his father. While in Hawaii staying active and healthy was easy. A good portion of everyday was spent in the ocean, surfing, swimming, SCUBA diving, body boarding etc. Later in high school he joined both the cross country and track teams and became an avid runner.

Post college he moved to Philadelphia for work and fell off the proverbial fitness wagon. By the age of 25 he had stopped any type of physical activity and tipped the scales at 200lbs. At this point a friend of his introduced him to P90X. 90 days later he had shed 35lbs and reignited his interest in fitness. Over the next four years he completed P90X and INSANITY multiple times, ran a half marathon and completed 4 Tough Mudders. At 29 he thought he was in the best shape of his life.

Enter the Alexaki’s, Rachael had been doing Crossfit for years at KOP and asked Jesse multiple times to give it a try with her, she was never successful. However when she made the switch to Thermal she somehow convinced Ryan and Moogan to give Crossfit a try. Ryan and Moogan asked Jesse to join with them. He laughed at the thought of Ryan and Moogan working at all, let alone completing a Crossfit workout. Friendly banter ensued and an impossible bet was made (or so Jesse thought). If Ryan and Moogan completed a month of Crossfit two days a week without missing a single class then Jesse would join…

Fast forward a little more than a year and at 31 Jesse is NOW in the best shape of his life. He has progressed in every aspect of Crossfit and has hit countless PR’s…because lets face it he never really #MovedWeight before. Then again if you ask Ryan he still doesn’t! He hopes to one day be able to snatch like Sizzle and get his name on the board for something…anything…however he isn’t holding his breath..
