Congratulations Pug!!
Our July Member of the Month pick is in! Its Nick “Pug” Pugliese. Don’t miss his custom workout, later this month.
Nick grew up in East Norriton, PA, just a few miles from CrossFit Conshohocken where he resides today. Or as he would describe it, seven red lights and two seemingly eternal construction zones away. At an early age Nick thrived in youth sports playing for multiple leagues and travel teams in Basketball, Baseball, and Football. In high school, he narrowed his sport to football which he enjoyed all four years. However, during high school his focus began to shift away from sports in general and towards working at his dad’s electrical contracting company amongst other things (parties). He attended Villanova University, where he graduated from the Villanova Business School. Throughout his time in college, he continued to work for the family business. After College, he maintained his work in the family business and would eventually start a Building and General Contracting company with his brothers, completing a childhood dream. Although his interest in playing team sports waned, his desire to stay in shape maintained and aided him in his work on jobsites. As life and unhealthy lunches got in the way, his fitness fell off and led to him joining CrossFit Thermal in 2018, at the suggestion of Marc Peyton and Kev Cybularz. From 2018 to 2020, Nick regained his enthusiasm for fitness and enjoyed a new sport and community in CrossFit. After Covid, he took a “just long enough break to get in the worst shape of his life and forget almost everything he learned at Thermal” before joining CrossFit Conshohocken in 2023. Nick has really enjoyed seeing some of the old faces from Thermal and meeting the new members at CFC. His favorite thing about CrossFit is the positive atmosphere and friendly yet competitive environment. You will usually catch him running into the 4:30 class 1 minute late. He enjoys spending his free time on DIY projects around his house, with his family and friends, cheering on the local teams and thinking of new businesses/real estate deals he can develop.
Schedule Changes
Effective Saturday July 20th, our new schedule will be;
Saturday
8:00am CrossFit Class
9:00am CrossFit Class
There are no other changes to the schedule.
This will be an experiment for the rest of the summer, and we’ll make a long term decision on the 9/10am class time as we enter the Fall. Its entirely possible that we will offer all 3 classes if we continue to see growth in the membership base. For the time being, we will still allow coaches to open early on Saturdays so long as we don’t see a general slowdown in folks attending class. For 99% of us, class is the main event and open gym is extra, we aim to maintain that philosophy and the culture and community that comes with it. During the Saturday Class times, the Forge will remain open for limited use as space allows. If there is a big class, please yield rig space and equipment to the class. The overwhelming majority of Forge users have been amazing at doing this of late, thank you.
Housekeeping
Please do not write on the gym floor with chalk for any reason. We like to treat our space with respect gang, and this isn’t the way. Believe it or not, it takes someone on their hands and knees, scrubbing the floor after you leave, to get this up. Thank you in advance
Please take your belongings with you from the fridge on a daily basis. This is our retail and meal delivery fridge gang. We look the other way if you stick something in there while you workout, but lately people have been leaving things in there for days / weeks / ‘ever. You can access the bottom shelf, but please take your stuff with you. We will begin throwing things out that get left in there, and we’d hate to see you lose something (even a Stanley). This will help keep the place looking (and smelling) professional. Thank you for understanding. This photo doesn’t actually show any wrongdoing, its simply a photo of the fridge with some stuff in it. Thanks
