Two weeks ago we sent out a quick 4 question survey for members to complete.  Its great to get this kind of feedback once in a while and I’d like to thank everyone who completed it. First – we wanted to know what you wanted to work in terms of training.  Of course, we are a CrossFit Gym, a pure CrossFit, A CrossFit that is run by an OG, all of that stuff will stay the same.   We’re not adding a boot-camp class, or eliminating barbells or anything crazy like that. But its important to look at the micro, while keeping the macro on the horizon.  What I mean is that you can’t always try to get good at everything all at once, you have to attack some items with repeated and concentrated effort to effect change.  This was the basis for Question number 1. Question 1  What type of...

In your inbox today you’ll find a link to complete a survey for CrossFit Thermal, its only 4 questions but will be a big help if you can complete it.  Here at Thermal we take our programming seriously, we aim to give our members amazing results and we want to know exactly what you want out of this program.  If you’ve never spent time on our website, now would be a great time to stop by and read our Programming Methodology Page.  I have yet to find another gym out there with a more in depth description covering why we do what we do. That being said, the end of the Open is a great time to refocus and dial back into regular training.  No matter what comes out of this survey, a few things will NOT change.  First we’re still always going to be doing CrossFit, that is; constantly varied...

Message From Bristol Zick of Zickview Farms; What is “Cow Share” ?  In short, its a group of people (gym members in this case) pooling together to get a “share” of high quality beef.   We sell the meat by hanging weight, which is the weight of the carcass after initial slaughter. Take home weight is approximately 75-80% of this. Each share will break down to approximately 35% ground meat, 40% steaks and 25% roasts. For shares ¼ and larger you can have your beef custom cut, selecting which steaks and roasts you prefer. All meat is vacuum packed and labeled with cut name and weight. Steaks are packed in single packages. The meat is aged for 12 days before it is cut, vacuum packed and frozen. The meat will come frozen and will stay good for 18 months or longer if kept frozen. We are a third generation family farm...

We know that people have busy lives, and coming to CrossFit is just one part of the day.  With family obligations, work, traffic and everything else, showing up on time can sometimes be difficult.  Here at CrossFit Thermal, we understand that.  You all pay to be part of this community, and we never want to turn someone away, but when late arrival starts to effect the way we run classes, and the quality of the product that we offer, it’s our responsibility to pay attention. On a daily basis, our coaches are looking ahead at sign-ups to see who is in class and how many people they will have.  This allows us to plan warm-ups, consider equipment and other logistics, and ask for coaching assistance if needed.  Knowing who will be in class and having them all arrive for the start of class is a key component to being a...

As a gym, our goal for the 2018 CrossFit Open is to allow as many members as possible to complete the workouts here at CrossFit Thermal.  While we encourage each of you to make every Saturday morning, we understand that is not always possible.  This year, we’ll be offering the Open WOD at each class time on Monday as well.  Here is how it will work. If you can not make Saturday, there will be a limited number of slots (depending upon the logistics, and equipment needs) available on Monday at each class time.  Monday athletes will need to supply their own judge and have it approved by Vin, Megs or Brian, prior to the start of the workout.  In some cases where the entire gym space is needed, like 50 ft of walking lunges, Monday may not be available, but we will do our absolute best, while not stopping...
