As many of you know, Coach John will be moving in January and his time at Thermal will be coming to a close.  John received a well deserved and impressive promotion at his company and as a result he’ll be landing in Richmond Virginia.  While part of our staff John had a huge impact on our community, and on me as a manager.  “Johnny Rogue”, “John John”, or “Mobility John” – whatever you called him, was always on point when he was in front of a class, full of energy and setting people to task.  John’s classes were fun and engaging and he always knew how to inspire people to get the most from them.  Personally , I probably gave John more crap than any of our other coaches for various reasons.  What I love about John was that he would always challenge me, and he wasn’t a follower, he had a style that was his own, and it works!  What I’ll miss most are John’s music skills.   Obviously he’s a great coach, but he had a way of knowing just when a workout was about to break me, and he’d hit me with some “Taking Back Sunday” to push me through the WOD.

The guy isn’t dying, he’s just moving a few hours away.  I’ve had friends move in the past and its always brought us closer, despite a little less face time.  Please join me in wishing John, good luck both in his career, and in finding a new home box that deserves him, whoever they are will be lucky to have him.

Also – John, keep the playlists coming on Spotify, as long as they don’t get too “Virginia” on us.
