Growing up in Southington, Connecticut, John was immersed in sports from a young age. Throughout high school he found his stride in the comaradie of team sports, excelling in both football and baseball. However, upon his arrival in Philadelphia for a four year stint at St. Joes, his cleats gathered dust and weight rooms remained foreign territory until frantic pre-spring break efforts. It wasn’t until a year post-college that he recommitted to his physical well-being. Sampling various group fitness programs he finally discovered his niche in Crossfit. Since his inaugural class at CFC last May, where he almost broke his shin on a box-jump, he’s been proud of the progress he’s made. The supportive community, spirited competition, and attentive coaching has made every class an hour to look forward to. When John isn’t in a rush for the 7AM class, he’s spending time with his wife, Liz, and their newborn...

Amanda’s Workout – Monday 4/29/2024 Amanda’s Story Amanda joined CrossFit Conshohocken (then Thermal) in 2019, when she was a freshman in high school. She tried many sports as a child, but most of the time was more interested in picking the flowers in the grass. Nothing really stuck until she joined CrossFit Conshohocken. When Amanda first started at the gym, she was not able to run 100 meters. Amanda’s introduction to CrossFit began by dabbling in private training and gives then Coach Tyler credit for teaching her all the fundamentals, and most importantly, igniting her passion for CrossFit. It took well over a year of private coaching, and a few setbacks, before she felt comfortable joining classes (typical 15-year-old girl worries). One of the principles at CrossFit Conshohocken is community. That was demonstrated immediately as so many members reached out to Amanda saying, “here is my number, call me anytime.”...

Jeff grew up in Downingtown and has always had a passion for sports. Whether it was intramural baseball, soccer or basketball, Jeff played it. It wasn’t until the age of 12, where he found his true passion…ice hockey. After years of relentless travel, early morning practices and games every weekend, Jeff decided to hang up his skates and enjoy the college life at West Chester University. In 2010, Jeff was introduced to CrossFit by a good friend. He quickly found a passion for the sport. He loves progressing in any movement thrown at him and enjoys the competitive atmosphere amongst the community. Injuries have carried their weight through his fitness journey, but Jeff is very thankful to still be doing what he loves. Outside of the gym, you can find Jeff hiking, snowboarding, golfing and occasionally enjoying a good double IPA.

Emmy has always loved some friendly competition from sports. She was a competitive gymnast, played ice hockey for 12 years and has now been dedicated to the CrossFit community for 10 years. She’s always been inspired by movement and being active outside, whether it’s camping, hiking, laying on the beach, or gardening. She loves to dance (think Elaine in Seinfeld) to all kinds of music, bake bread, and foster the cutest puppies. She grew up in the area, went to West Chester University and graduated with her BS in Psychology, took a victory lap and ended up with a Master’s in Higher Education. Emmy took some time to drink beer and eat ice cream and indulged by working at a brewery and at Bassett’s ice cream in the Reading Terminal Market. When the lactose started to take its toll, she moved out to Blue Bell and got a job at...
