September is here gang, and we’ve got a lot coming your way this month! Monthly Focus: For the next four weeks our mini-cycle focus will be on the Back Squat and Strict Pulling movements.  These are two elements of our macro improvement plan.  We’re really encouraging you all to be here on these training days, as we know you’ll see great results.  In fact, this month we’re tipping our hand and announcing part of the training calendar.  On Alternating Tuesdays and Thursdays* in the month, we’ll be hitting some type of back squatting.  If you show up these days, there is no way that you won’t get stronger! September 2022 Member of the Month Did you know, that Tanya was the also the member of the month back in June of 2015? Whoa!!!! Tanya grew up in Saint-Petersburg, Russia. She was never into sports and winter PE (like cross-county skiing) was her least favorite subject in school (to the extent that her PE teacher was getting concerned about her future 😊) She moved to the U.S. in 2001. Fast forward to August 2014 when she noticed that growing older had some negative effects and decided to make some changes in her life. Her friend had been talking about his addiction to CrossFit for years and was a huge fan of Vinny and the CrossFit Thermal that Vinny had opened in Conshohocken. Tanya decided to give it a try. July is in the rear view but Summer is still in full swing. Get ready, squad, we’ve got another month of sweaty workouts on tap!  Here is what’s going on around the gym… July highlights We retested “Breaking Bad” the last week of the month and everyone absolutely crushed it.  We had 8 PRs on the day.  One of which was from “Coop”, who flew through the workout in 5:47.  Coop said, “I didn’t think I could beat my old PR, or possibly go any faster.”  I’d also like to recognize, Jonathan “JT” Tan for putting in an incredible effort with a time of 6:39.  If that doesn’t impress you, you should know that the barbell in this workout is just about bodyweight for JT – pretty awesome! It’s bittersweet writing this post, but its time for CFC to say goodbye to Coach Nick. Four years ago Nick, then a Temple student looking to intern and get his feet wet in the fitness industry joined the team. The first thing he said to me was “Thanks for seeing me, Mr Joyce”, and from that moment, he was hired! . From day one, Nick brought a work ethic that has been unmatched. A willingness to learn, tireless effort and a humble spirit made him the “main guy” here for years. You almost couldn’t come to the gym and not see Nick. His personality and hard work can be seen everywhere in this place. The fact that he put his blood sweat and tears into this community can’t be understated.
